Mama’s Lunch: An innovative ‘community-led’ childcare food service that connects informal childcare enterprises with local women food vendors, in order to access affordable and nutritious meals for children.

Currently in its ‘test & learn’ stages, Mama’s Lunch has enabled distribution of over 12,000 affordable meals to young children in more than 20 informal childcare facilities. 

Under the Nawirisha Labs, community-led solutions such as ‘Mama’s Lunch’ which address critical needs for food, healthcare, microfinance by informal childcare enterprises, will continue to be developed, tested, and scaled in partnership with local service providers and women childcare providers, thereby creating affordability, enhancing effectiveness, and ensuring sustainability.
