Childcare Policy Development
The Nawirisha Community-led Childcare Policy Advocacy Initiative: A ‘community-led’ childcare policy advocacy initiative that facilitates informal childcare providers to organize and work with their community leaders and local government authorities to create a ‘self-regulation mechanism’ with the goal of enhancing the quality of childcare services and operations in informal settlements.
Implemented through a ‘test & learn’ approach, the process is led by Community elders (Nyumba kumi) and Local government authorities to organize and network informal childcare providers, into “village-based groups”, catalyzing peer learning and community-led childcare regulation to enhance children’s safety and protection.
